 Pre-Placement
Screening
Worker Safety ~ Conflict
Resolution ~ Injury Prevention
This
unique procedure meets the needs of the employers while
offering safety, confidentiality and respect to the
prospective employee.
The
Gilbert approach has met with approval from Trade Unions,
Management and Workforce with no conflict scenarios arising.
The
Cost Effectiveness Benefits of this method have been
immediately apparent.
Occupational Health personnel have been delighted that this
procedure has also been crafted to actually lighten their
workload while providing the concise information they
require to make valid employment decisions.
Occupational Physicians have repeatedly endorsed their
preference to this approach allowing them, when required, to
also utilize the information gathered at assessment.
Current standards of
pre-placement/post offer screening in many cases have not
proven to meet their objectives of injury reduction and
prevention to the high level of anticipated success. Many
corporations are openly voicing their dissatisfaction, sharing the
frustration of the workforce and the Occupational Physicians
and Nurses.
Concurrently, the functional
activity “Industrial Athlete “ approach to rehabilitation
–initially marketed as the optimum approach to early return
to work for the injured employees has often proved to be
equally ineffective.
The Privacy Act / Information
Act presents a potential minefield to those offering these
services.
There are now over one
million cases of breach under the American Disabilities Act
with a twelve year backlog before the courts.
And still, the disabilities, injuries,
absenteeism, with all their financial and social ramifications
persist.
Having examined these current approaches, Hugh has
identified some areas which could be improved upon, both
functionally and philosophically, and has designed a
protocol which is practical, informative, defensible,
problem identification AND SOLUTION based, extremely cost
effective, while maintaining the required standards of the
Privacy/Information and American Disabilities Acts.
